Since the Middle Ages, musicians have been travelling. From castles to villages, to train, work, give concerts, discover other traditions or simply out of curiosity, artists have always been travellers, allowing music to evolve. However, travelling has not meant the same thing throughout history. Even today, mobility – whether real or internal – remains at the heart of artistic creation and social life. But the traveller has changed. This concert invites you on a musical journey from the Baroque to Romanticism, based on the idea of nomadic music. Musical works echo sociological, philosophical, historical and literary texts, offering a moment that is at once poetic, sensitive and curious.
The Balzac Quartet is composed of four artists who are regular members of the Pygmalion orchestra. This project was created on the initiative of Delphine Blanc, violist and sociologist, associate researcher at the Centre Georg Simmel (EHESS-CNRS Paris) and professor at SciencesPo Paris.
☀️ The concert is preceded by workshops and mini-concerts with pupils from Collège Cheverus and École élémentaire Stéhélin in partnership with Bibliothèque Pierre Veilletet (Bordeaux).
