Pygmalion returned the following year with <em>Hippolyte et Aricie<\/em>, then <em>Castor et Pollux<\/em> in 2013, and <em>Zoroastre<\/em> in 2016. Rameau has become an integral part of Pygmalion&#8217;s identity. <em>Dardanus <\/em>was also Pygmalion\u2019s first staged production, directed by Michel Fau at the Op\u00e9ra de Bordeaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-29d42e6d14467bd5a53a0b2848b52c61 wp-block-paragraph\">Rapha\u00ebl Pichon favours the later editions of these lyric tragedies: premiered in 1739 at the Palais-Royal and criticised for its libretto, <em>Dardanus<\/em> was reworked by Rameau, who offered a new version in 1744. The same is true for <em>Hippolyte et Aricie<\/em>, premiered in 1733 and revised in 1757. In 2013, he explained: \u2018These later versions were written ten or even twenty years after the works\u2019 creation, and thus benefit from all the experience of a composer who had been composing operas for thirty years.
