As her existence draws to a close, a woman plunges into the night of her final journey and travels back through the different stages of her life. Like the shadow she casts, the whole of creation now unfolds from the very beginning, through the inexorable litany of all things that are no more. But then a chain of fraternal and festive dancers casts its strength into the battle, bursting with all the joyful energy of the living. Few works have provoked as much commentary as this final Requiem. From his long association with death, Mozart forged a testament of universal significance, giving voice to human anxiety and the terror of the cosmos, but also charting a path towards pacification and light. For Romeo Castellucci, finitude gives to all things their value and to works of art their beauty.
