Rapha\u00ebl Pichon has chosen the setting of the Chapelle Royale in Versailles, built \u2018for the use\u2019 of the Sun King, to present a musical reconstruction of the event, with chiaroscuro lighting designs by Bertrand Couderc. Solemn grands motets like the <em>De profundis<\/em> and <em>Dies irae<\/em> of Michel-Richard de Lalande and the poignant <em>Marche fun\u00e8bre pour le Convoy du Roy<\/em> by Andr\u00e9 Danican Philidor are juxtaposed with rarely heard music by Jean Colin, Louis Chein and Charles d\u2019Helfer.
